Since we were teenagers growing up in upstate New York, we always wanted to own a business together. While waiting for “the big idea” lightning strike, we started a family and accidentally accumulated 30 years of experience leading teams at Bridgewater, Google, Moody’s, Goldman Sachs, PwC, and Compass.

One day, an eye-popping statistic caught our attention: 60% of managers fail in 18 months. It turns out that this failure rate is consistent from the front line to the C-suite. There has to be a better way.

That’s when it hit us: we’ve been blessed to work at companies that invested massive sums into helping leaders be more effective. And as we compared notes across the companies we worked at, themes started to emerge.

In 2022, we committed to a decade-long journey of sharing these common-sense practices with thousands of leaders. In two short years, this has proven to be the most rewarding chapter in our careers.
